In between everywhere & nowhere, there floats a ship. It has a distinctly futuristic, yet retro look to it. In the main hall of this ship there stands the abducted. All that are there are from some point in time & all stand in a silver metallic bowl. Then, a series of horns go off & above them a platform appears. On that platform is their abductor. He is dressed up in a robe of sorts.

He speaks: "Yo, Yo, Yo! This be the most rockingness Space Entity in all of creation that you will ever lay your little peepers on! Are you reading me, my fine primate descendant pals?"

There was no reaction. They just starred, some with their mouths open.

"Good! Why your here today is so I can lay down a heavy trip on you. Man, I wish I didn't have to but it's important that I do. Ready? Ok, Let's go! There is this totally uncool Wall 'o Death thing creeping across the dance floor we call Existence & it's destroying the place like it's going out of style, which it is so totally not! But, I don't have to tell you that! I'm sure you all know that."

More starring, he continues.

"So, me & Astra. You know her, don't you? She's the funky little lady with the gold go go boots on that unhinged you from the rest of the squares you normally jive with." When the male mentioned her: Astra, who was standing in a outcove near him, gave a small wave hello.

"So, you may be asking yourself: Self, why am I here? Well, You hepcats have been gathered together to help me save this crazy little multiverse we all groove in. What are we helping it to do? We're helping it keep on keeping on! Ya dig?"

"YYYEEESSSSSS! The Mudhens have accomplished their three year journey & are going to the finals!"

"Hey! I was watching that." said one of the five people at that end of the bar.

"Tough. We're watching this now." Chuck the Bartender said. He looks over the gaggle of people at the bar. "Are you sure you kids to be in here?"

"Yeah." another said.

"Ok." Chuck said, shrugged & then walked off to the other end of the bar.

--------------------------

Alaska. The small fishing village of Kloshee Ilahee. Inside it's one & only bar: Fool's Gold.

The "kids" at the bar are James Milton, Oswald Vanderhoosy, Lance Jones, Ben Hermes & Betty Marsh. They were in town & at the bar because Mr. Summers had a meeting there. He brought the group with him because 1. The other 2 Adults (Victor Torrie & Clayton Greenhawk) were busy doing other things & 2. Summers doesn't feel right leaving them alone in the Alaskan wilderness.

His instructions to the group was to sit a the bar & don't draw any attention to themselves (that wasn't really working).

--------------------------

At a table, in the corner & out of earshot from the group....

"So, this is were you've been since your freak out at work?"

"Yeah." Summers said as he took a sip of his Coffee.

"You know the people who know what you did still talk about. No one has fought Holcomb before, at least no one still alive after words."

"Lucky Me." Summers sarcastically said. "If there was an easier, more discrete way of doing what I did I would have but desperate times call for desperate measures. The actions of the FMRC were throwing my whole timetable off & I needed to act fast."

"Yeah. I know you wanted at least six months more but..."

"Yeah."

A few moments of silence & then "In somewhat related news, Rudd has been asking about you."

"Senator Rudd?" Summers said. He was a bit shocked.

"Yes. Which would I be talking about? The Actor? We don't even know him but he is a mighty fine actor & is not bad looking either."

Summer looked at his guest with a look of slight amusement.

"But, getting back on track the good Senator was hoping to use you & your students as a talking point during his reelection campaign."

"He still wants to go ahead with it? Even after the whole Wonderful Seven scandal & what's happening in the world?"

"Yeah. He feels that it separates him from the Pack back in D.C. Plus, he had this whole ad campaign about it but since what happened happened, that had to be scrapped. So, he had to run ads attacking the President and his handling of the Iraq war."

"Sorry about that."

"No your not."

"I know. But I felt like that needed to be said."

"Ok. By the way Rudd kept his seat. He told me to tell you if & when you return he's still up for doing this."

Summers wasn't listing at this point, he was checking on his students. Psi-Lance was checking out the Jukebox, Billy Goat & Teen Avenger were in yet another fight, The Human Zamboni was absent mindedly freezing his drink & Semi-Transparent Lad appeared to be doodling on a napkin.

Summers' guest noticed that & asked "Are they worth it?"

"What?" Summers asked as his attention snapped back to her.

"Are they worth all you've done? Because if they aren't.."

"Everything is done for some reason. Partly of what I've done is from them & partly is for me..."

"To redeem yourself?" She said interrupting.

"Sort of. A lot of what I've done since that day is to redeem me or them." Summers said. Then his tone change & he looks to be remembering something. "There isn't a day that doesn't past that I don't thing of them & what we could have accomplished if they hadn't died. I also think why didn't I die. As the event has replayed over & over again in my mind I think of all that could of happen & what I could have done."

She sighs & then says "You don't need to beat yourself up about it. It happened over 20 years ago. Your were inexperienced. In fact your whole team was for the most part. Plus, Leonard never should have sent you guys into that situation. He knew what at stake but did he sent in anyone of his family: No! He sent in your guys & stayed back in his Lab."

"But I'm sure he had good reason."

"I'm not so sure. Didn't you guys ask for backup & did you get any?"

"No. But the team had so much to do back then maybe they were busy."

"Maybe." She said not so sure of her answer.

Another few moments of silence.

"You've obviously keep up on the old group & seen the files, haven't you?"

"Yes."

"And you know about the apparent denial?"

"Yes." Summers said sadly.

"Then, why do you still defend that man?"

"Besides my own father, Leonard is a like a father to me. After my powers started to show up, I was at a tough place in my life. I was confused about who I was really was."

"I know. I've seen in pictures how you use to dressed & read about how you acted." She said with a smile.

"Yes. It was a slightly embarrassing time for me. But, Leonard helped put so many thing into perspective for me. Then when they died, he was there & helped me get through it. He's done so much for me, I don't feel right tearing him down for something we're not even sure he even did."

"And you want to get into Politics?" She said with another smile.

"Yes. Yes. I know. I'm a contradiction." Summers said with a laugh.

She grabbed Summers' wrist & looked at his watch. He asked "When do you have to leave?"

"Soon. I have to drive back to Anchorage & then catch a flight from there back to the East Coast. There have been rumors that Holcomb is doing something."

"Isn't he always?" Summers said with a chuckle.

"Yes. But, this something is not his normal something. He's teaming up & going after something that he shouldn't be."

"What?"

"I can't tell you because I don't exactly know but if it is what they are saying it is we may need you & your kids back sooner then later."

"I know. I think another few months & they should be good."

"You may have a few weeks."

Summers didn't want to hear that.

"I know. I know. But, Holcomb needs to go down."

"Yes."

The two of them get up from the table, they hug. She gives Summers a peck on the cheek.

"Thanks for coming, Abbey. I needed this."

"Sure. What are Girlfriends for?" Abbey Parker says. Give Summers one last kiss & then exits out the back.

Mr. Summers walked over to the bar & his Students. "Ok. We're going back to Camp now."

There were groans from the group. They got off the stools & trudged out to the Truck.

"How much do I own you?" Summers asked Chuck.

"10.50"

Summers reached in his pocket & pulled out a roll of bills. Gave Chuck 11 dollars & said "Keep the change."

"Thanks." Chuck said & then waved as Summers headed out.

Once he heard the truck drive off, he pulled the phone up & placed it on to the counter, then dialed. It rang for a awhile, it was after all long distance. A minute or two later, the call was picked up.

"Mr. Ruben Holcomb's office. Jane speaking, how may I direct your call?"

"Tell Mr. Holcomb it's Chuck from Alaska calling."

"One moment, please."

"Sure, whatever." Chuck said was put on hold. The FMRC has horrible hold music but he didn't have to listen to it for long.

"Hello?"

"Mr. Holcomb?"

"Yes."

"It's Chuck from Alaska, you asked me to keep an eye out for a few people..."

"Yes."

"They just left & from the chatter I heard I know where they are heading."

"Excellent."
